This month in conjunction with our Back to School issue we are spotlighting two national companies, Target and Staples that support education and nonprofits through community donations and granting programs. Check out how they can help you and your organization in your fundraising efforts.
Target
Target believes bright futures begin in the classroom, so they are making sure kids and schools have the support they need to succeed. Target supports education through several initiatives and programs.
Target Take Charge of Education
With the help of their REDcard™ holders, Target has donated $418 million to local K-12 schools since 1997 through Take Charge of Education (TCOE). The program lets guests designate 1 percent of their REDcard purchases to a K-12 school of their choice to fund whatever the school needs most. In 2014, more than 84,000 schools received a TCOE check, totaling more than $31 million in TCOE donations for the year, keeping us on track to reach our goal to increase TCOE giving to schools nationwide.
Target Foundation Grants
Target Field Trip Grants
Being a good neighbor is a big part of Target’s philosophy. One of the ways they connect with the communities where they do business is through local giving. Each year, Target grants help K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations by support for educational field trips and funds for what they need most.
Target Gift Card Donations
Target donates gift cards to nonprofits and schools for fundraising purposes. Just take your request letter on official letterhead to your local Target store. Sometimes you get a gift card on the spot, other times they call you pick up when authorized manager is working. If you have multiple locations you can usually get a gift card from each location.
Staples
Staples has giving programs from cause marketing and charitable donations to grants and gift cards, Staples supports 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations focused on education and job skills in a variety of ways. Last year they gave more than $13.8 million to nonprofit organizations around the world.
We Care gift cards and in-kind product donations
Staples stores support non-profit organizations through We Care gift cards and in-kind product donations. These donations allow organizations to get the supplies they need from Staples to help make a community event or program a success. All requests are evaluated by the local store and decisions are made at the discretion of store management. Request more information from your local store manager.
Giving back to classrooms
Beginning this school year through Think It Up™, students will be able to work with their teachers to identify passion projects for their classrooms. Through this collaborative learning process, student-powered, teacher-led projects will be crowdfunded on Thinkitup.org, which is fueled by DonorsChoose.org.
Back to school is just around the corner! So many children look forward to receiving new school supplies but, unfortunately, many kids will go back to school without the necessary supplies to learn. Youth Development Center of America (YDCA) will have our annual (Back-to-School) drive during August 18th through September 2017, for Reavis Elementary School in Chicago, and battered women with children in shelters reaching over 500 students ranging from homeless, low income, and at risk children so we need your donations! Who should I email?
Hi we are an inner city ministry that reaches the lost and hurting. We reach out to the drug addicts , gang members as well as prostitution. We know there are thousands of children affected. We are doing a small part because we believe in education for our children and know everyone deserves a chance. We are doing our annual Backpack giveaway July 27th 2019. We are asking if you’d be apart of donating backpacks and school supplies to children in need . We appreciate any small or great donation. Thank you
