Ice Cream Social

Nostalgic still life of hot fudge sundae in classic tulip dish wWhatever the flavor — whether vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip or something else — most of us love a serving of ice cream. There are plenty of different options to choose from, so why not have an ice cream social for your group's next fundraiser? It's sure to be popular and will appeal to all groups and all ages too.

To make your social stand out from the rest choose a specific theme. You might want to go for an Ice Cream Sundae theme, for example, and make sundaes to order — the basic flavors of vanilla and chocolate are enhanced with all kinds of sundae toppings (think hot fudge, caramel, sprinkles, whipped cream, cherries and anything else you think might work). Alternatively use a Smooshed Ice Cream theme — in this case use foods that can be mixed into slightly softening ice cream using scoops (think chocolate candies, brownies, bananas and so on).

Another option is a Homemade Ice Cream theme — find someone in your group with an ice cream maker you can borrow and ask them to share their favorite recipe. If you've never tried it before, you'll find ice cream made from scratch is a special treat. Longest Ice Cream Sundae is another theme you can consider — find a piece of clean, plastic gutter and create a large ice cream sundae with it. Fill the container with ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge and drop a few cherries on top. All that's left then is for all of your group's members to dig in and enjoy.

Add in an Ice Cream Eating Contest — see how many scoops one individual can eat in a specific time frame.  Always fun to watch and cheer for your friends or team! A small entry fee will also increase your bottom line, but not your waistline.  These “Cool” ideas create great opportunities for social media!
