CFL Bulbs
More and more people are becoming concerned about the environment and want to do their part to preserve it. Why not combine environmental awareness with fundraising? Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs use about 75 percent less energy than standard incandescent bulbs. They produce less heat, reducing the need for cooling in the home. If every home replaced just one standard light bulb with a CFL bulb, it would save enough energy over the course of one year to light more than three million homes. It's easy to plan a CFL bulb sale. First, work with a local merchant to buy CFL bulbs in bulk so you get them at a reduced price. Then sell them either at a designated venue, or door-to-door, with a small markup, say $2 per bulb. Be sure your volunteers can explain to supporters why they should buy the CFL bulbs. Supporters can feel good about not only helping your organization, but helping to save the environment too.
