With spring comes an array of scents that tickle the olfactory senses. There's nothing quite like the smell outside after it rains, or the smell of blooming flowers. Ah, but in order to have the small of those blooming flowers, there need to be flowers planted in the first place. That leads us to a great spring fundraising idea: a flower and seed sale.

The beauty of this is that you can expand it as far as you want. You can sell already grown flowers, or you can sell flower seeds. You can even raise the stakes and sell vegetable seeds for gardens. After all, it is that time of year, too. However you decide to do it, you'll have to determine a few things beforehand.

Step 1: Find A Wholesaler

You're going to be selling these seeds and flowers, which means that you're going to have to also buy them. The best way to go about this is find a wholesaler. Googling "wholesale seeds" or "wholesale flowers" is a good start. You can also look to wholesale outlets such as BJs or Costco. Those will give you a good deal on your materials.

Step 2: Determine How To Sell

The further beauty of selling seeds and flowers is that they're portable. You can get permission to set up outside of a supermarket or other major outlet -- of course, one that doesn't already sell seeds. That will give you the most exposure, since hundreds of people will pass by during the course of a weekend.

Then there is the door-to-door option, which can easily be supplemented by parents taking them to work. In that way it will work a lot like Girl Scout cookie sales. They won't be as delicious, but they will be just as beautiful!

The idea of selling flowers and seeds is so simple that there really is no Step 3. There will be a little business savvy involved, of course, because you're buying materials and then reselling them. You have to be careful and not overbuy and incur losses. But with a little research you should be able to brighten up people's days and raise money for your organization at the same time.
